Hello Open Minded Readers,
Book Talk Tuesday comes to you from Mrs. Applequist!
I am reading a book called PERCEPTION AND DECEPTION: A MIND-OPENING JOURNEY ACROSS CULTURES. It is a really interesting book about the different ways people think about things (perception) and whether or not they are accurate in their thoughts.
What do you see on the cover? Some of us see the cow and thinks of farms. Some of us see the cows and think of nice cold milk or juicy burgers! While others see the cow and a way to make money for their family or to possibly use to trade for something. Being open-minded allows us to be respectful of the different ways people see or think of things.
This book is a great reminder to me to be more open-minded and tolerant. Sometimes it is really easy to see something and make a quick judgement about it. Next time you see something that is different than you are, I challenge you to be a little more open-minded... maybe ask a question or try to make a connection! After all, whether we are alike or different, we're all in this together!
Be good. Be nice. Behave.
